Mr Sutari Supari

sutariMr Sutari bin Supari is the camp warden for Mawai Eco Camp. He is an expert in Birds and has co-published a bird called “Birds of Singapore” by Times publishing. He is also a free-hand sketching artist specialises in birds drawings.

Hobbies and Achievements

  • Co-author and illustrator of book,”Birds of Singapore” Oxford University Press 1993
  • Illustrated many other nature guide books, journals, magazines, proposals etc
  • Built biggest astronomical telescope, Dobsonian type in Malaysia and Singapore with fellow Amateur astronomers, 1995
  • Active in outdoor activities/expeditions such as, mountain trekking and have scaled most of the high peaks in S E Asia eg. Mt. Kinabalu (Sabah), Gunong Tahan (Pahang), Langtang Himal (Nepal),Gunung Masurai and Gunong Daun (Sumatra), White water canoeing down the Perak river and Endau river etc. Camp warden for Youth camp at Mawai, Johor
  • Watercolour painting and mixed medium of wildlife art and freelance wildlife artist
  • Freelance work in Architectural and graphic illustrations, etc
  • Freelance photographer for and social, wedding functions, ceremonies, copywork and also Adventure Expedition photographer and any other artistic services etc
  • Rediscovered the presence of Plain-pouched Hornbill (Aceros subruficollis)in Upper Perak in 1993 and was reinstated in the Peninsular Malaysia Birdlist by the Malaysian Nature Society
